3-in-1 Pony Perfector, Calming Leave-in Treatment
3-in-1 uses:
Coat | Mane | Tail
Mildly Cleansing | Deeply Nourishing | Naturally Glossing
Anti-bacterial | Anti-fungal | Anti-Inflammatory
COAT:
- Brush off excess dirt and dust
- Use on damp or dry coat
- Spray on coat and wipe with soft bamboo cloth, including legs and underbelly
- Beneficial calming essential oils for horse and human
FACE & EARS: Spray on cloth and wipe to repel insects to keep the face and ears clean.
MANE & TAIL: Use on clean damp or dry hair. For the dock of mane and tail, it is still beneficial if they are dirty. It's helpful for dry, itchy patches.
Detangle: We find if the hair is damp or has been mildly shampoo'd, the product has more slip and is a helpful detangler. This also gives the hair a mild gloss.
Mane and Tail Cleaning Process
- Pick debris out of hair
- Remove knots by hand
- Spray on water to dampen tail, then spray on product or rub in with hands
- Start brushing from the bottom up, holding the upper part of the mane or tail hair above the brush, ending with the dock, carefully separating hair to remove dirt and dander from dock
- Follow up by brushing the entire tail from bottom to top with a natural flick brush for a polished look and volume
Prevent breakage & rubbing: Spray on dock of mane and tail, rub with your hands or use a soft bristle brush. The anti-bactrerial and anti-fungal plant properties prevent itchiness.
Repel insects & dirt: Spray in the whole mane and tail and use fingers to or soft bristle brush to distribute
Soothe inflammation: Soothe itchy areas, repel insects and for the anti-bacterial/anti-fungal benefits to prevent itching the mane and tail off.
Because we don't wash our horse's hair as often as ours, it can leave a sticky feeling if used in the mane or tail when it's dry and somewhat dirty.

How do I apply the leave-in remedy
You can spray the Pony Perfector on your hand and then rub on the ends and dock of the mane or tail and inside ears. You can also spray directly on the coat as a soothing dirt and insect repellent. Some horses don't like to be sprayed near the face, so we spray the treatment into our hands and rub around the face to deter flies.
We love the way it makes our skin smell, too!
The horses that want to be loved on and touched, line up patiently for me to apply oil to the dock of their mane and coat. I massage their necks under their mane and tail with a plastic hair brush (anything with plastic spikes)
- I use a circular and back and forth pattern on their neck and chest.
It's helpful if the mane and tail are damp or somewhat clean to use as a detangler. Product applied to manes and tails that are super dirty will "stick" to the dirt, leaving a sticky feeling.
Why does the spray trigger come separate? Do I need to cut it?
The spray trigger was getting damaged in shipping when attached to the bottle. It is the correct size for the bottle. It is best to have the tube longer so that it dispenses when the product is low.
Does it clean and brighten white hair
YES! We've found the Pony Perfector to clean dirt spots off white/grey horses which helps to brighten their coat.
Do I need water to rinse?
No water is needed to rinse. This is a leave-in remedy. If you need detangling, it's best if the hair is damp. It is mildly cleansing and softening to the hair when damp. We leave it on the horse at our barn, as we don't have running water all season. The neem oil helps to repel insects, so we like to keep in on the horse.
Will it thicken and grow horse hair?
If you apply the leave-in remedy to the base of the mane and tail, it will prevent breakage and promote thickening. As we know, genetics really determines the thickness and length of a mane and tail.
Does it make anything slippery?
Nope. The Pony Perfector is lightweight and does not leave behind a slippery feeling.
How do the essential oils help emotions?
Essential oil molecules enter the nose and go into our limbic system (the feeling part of our brain) during inhalation. For horses, they have considerably higher olfactory receptors, giving them a highly develped sense of smell. They like and dislike certain aromas, too. Calming oils can help decrease anxiety and offer grounding to you and your pony.
Do you sell in tack stores?
We are considering selling to stores, as of now, we're online only.
Why does it feel sticky after applying to the mane and tail?
If the mane or tail are soiled heavily with dirt, the product will stick to the dirt. This will leave a sticky feeling. A mild shampoo wash will prevent this.
